We have been involved in technology enhanced teamwork solutions for over 40 years. We started when personal computers entered the market in the mid 70's. It was a time when computers were unheard of in all but the largest corporations. The technology has come a very long way since then and gone through a number of cycles.
At first there was no software for organizations to use on these new devices. As a result they made large investments to have us develop custom software to meet their needs. Then came all of the software packages that professed to do everything an organization would need. Unfortunately these packages did not talk to each other and none of them did everything that every organization needed, the way they required it to be done. This left them in a dilemma - use packaged software and modify their processes to make it work or continue developing custom software. We were able to help by interfacing various software packages being used by an organization and supplement with custom code as necessary so they did not have to build all custom software or change their time-proven processes. Interestingly, organizations with large computers were in the same boat and we helped some of them as well. Then came the internet, fast telecommunication speeds, Google, and cloud computing. Now what used to cost a rather large sum can be done relatively inexpensively using free software tools that are designed to share information seamlessly throughout an organization. So we really have been doing the same thing all those years but now we can do it for much less money. The information changes that are necessary as organizations' needs change can be done much faster as well.
